Yesterday my sister, mom and I went to Latourell Falls in the Columbia Gorge to take pictures.
When we left our house it was fairly sunny. Unfortunately when we arrived it was raining, so we didn’t have much time to take pictures. However I did happen to get a few good pictures in the time we were there. I took pictures of a waterfall, bridges, trees, and streams. None of us were dressed in rain gear, so after we’d taken pictures my mom took us all out to buy new rain jackets! Now the next time it’s raining and we’re taking pictures we’ll be water proof. I really hope we get to go back to the falls soon because there were many beautiful things that I want to take pictures of. Next time I want to take pictures of more waterfalls and experiment with different apertures and shutter speeds.
Visa Championships
A few weekends ago I watched the 2011 Gymnastics Visa Championships. Watching the gymnasts compete is fun because they do many interesting skills. On the first night of competition many of the athletes fell or made mistakes. I think they were nervous because the World Championships was the next competition, and they wanted to make a good impression on Marta Karolyi if they wanted to be a part of the world team. After the first night of the Competition Jordyn Wieber was 1st AA in the Senior age division. She had a lead of 1.85 points at the end of night one. This meet was Rebecca Bross’s first meet back in a year due to an injury. She was very shaky and fell once on bars and twice on beam. If she hadn’t fallen she would’ve been in first place in the AA. Day two was much better than day one. Jordyn Wieber hit every routine and won her first senior title. Rebecca Bross, however, fell on beam again and also dislocated her knee from landing short on vault.
My Dog!
I have a Cocker Spaniel named Tessa that I got as a Christmas present in 2007. I really wanted a puppy, but my mom wouldn’t let me have one so I was very surprised to get her. She was bred to be a show dog, but we don’t show her. Her fur is blonde, curly and fluffy. She also has big floppy ears and long eyelashes. Tessa is a very quiet and sweet dog who she loves to sleep on soft pillows, go on walks, get attention, and play with toys. When I leave to go somewhere she sits in our bay window and waits for me to come home; she’s very attached to me. She follows me around wherever I go unless someone else has food. When I come back home she gets a burst of energy and gets so excited. Cocker Spaniels are supposed to be water dogs, but Tessa does not like water at all because she hates getting wet.
Art Work!
Yesterday I wanted to make a craft so I painted a poster for my door. I splattered neon orange and pink acrylic paint on shiny black paper in a swirly design. Then I cut out sparkly silver letters to put on the poster. The letters spelled a quote that I liked: “Losers quit when they’re tired. Winners quit when they’ve won.” The quote was from a t-shirt that my mom bought a long time ago for my sister. It didn’t take me long to do the splatter paint, but cutting out the letters did. Making the poster was really fun, and I’m happy with the way it turned out!
